Bands to Break Bonds

Slavery. It isn't history...it's reality. Children. Teens. Forced labor. Forced prostitution. Illegal, but real.

This is one of the unpleasant realities of our world.

But we can change it.

The charity? Bands to Break Bonds. The concept? Simple: the profits from every wristband that is purchased are donated to Rapha House (RaphaHouse.org--a charity actively fighting human trafficking and the effects of modern slavery, no affiliation). In addition, the wristbands provide you with a subtle yet constant reminder to pray for the children who are victims of human trafficking.

Take a look! http://www.BandsToBreakBonds.org
Wristbands are $2 each.

4 ways you can help child slaves through Bands To Break Bonds:

1) Pray for the children. (this is the most important one)

2) Tell your friends about BandsToBreakBonds (blog, tweet, post on facebook, e-mail, text, talk, newsletter, etc....any way you can get the word out is helpful :)

3) Buy yourself a band. In fact, buy bands for your friends and family as gifts and/or buy bands and sell them (because you buy them from us, we still donate our profits to stopping human trafficking and you are still helping child slaves, even if you make money for yourself by selling them)

4) Help with the project. We need you to help us! Whether you raise awareness, write for the blog, sell bands, find vendors, or help plan awareness events and fundraisers, your help is much appreciated.

Thanks!!
God bless!

One Word

Hi again,
Sometimes, we need to change ourselves before we can change others.
Here's a great site I ran across the other day: myoneword.org
I haven't been able to look through it all, but from what I've seen it's a good Christian site focused on helping other Christians attain their one goal for the year.
That one goal is expressed through one word which each person can choose for themself. Neat idea, yeah?
Blessings!

Dollar for a Drink

Today, (though I'm not affiliated with them in any way), I'd like to tell you about Dollar for a Drink.

Can you imagine not having clean water? In 2007, in an African community, 6,000 people walked 4-6 hours one way to retrieve contaminated drinking water. In 2008, Dollar for a Drink raised enough money to build that community a well.

Convenient water. Clean water.

This year, Dollar for a Drink is raising money to build three wells in Africa.

Feed a child for a year

Children all around the world are starving.

How much would you give to feed one starving child, one child who Jesus died for, for an entire year?

How much do you think it costs to feed a child every day for a whole year?

$100?

$500?

$1,000?

What if I told you that it would only cost a little less than one penny per day?

One penny.

One day of food.

All in all, that's $36 - to feed one child for an entire year.

I am in no way associated with Food for the Poor. Food for the Poor is a fiscally responsible charity.

Change Your World Through Prayer

Prayer is powerful. You've probably heard the phrase thousands of times, but have you ever really stopped to consider what it means?

Prayer is when we petition the Creator of the universe for His will to be done on the earth. Prayer is when we ask Him to intervene in a certain situation. God can provide food and money. God can find jobs. God can heal. God can send us encouragement.

God can send you the money you need to finish out the fundraising for that well in Africa. God can guide the footsteps of that young child you saw in the grocery store. God can find homes for the orphans and take care of the widows. When we cannot do anything else, we can pray.

And when we pray, God listens.
